PANKSHIN Local Government Council, Plateau has proposed a budget of N3.45 billion for the 2021 fiscal year.

Chairman of the council, Mr John Damap disclosed this on Tuesday while presenting the 2021 Appropriation Bill to the Legislative Arm of the council for its consideration and approval.

Damap told the lawmakers that the budget tagged: “Budget of Consolidation” was aimed at giving a new lease of life to people of the area.

“The 2021 budget is predicated on our desire to ensure that projects that were initiated and ongoing but hampered by COVID-19 pandemic will be completed and commissioned accordingly before the expiration of our tenure.’’

“The budget, which is made of statutory allocation of N1.95 billion, Valued Added Tax of N758.5 million and Non Tax Revenue of N19.9 million among others, dropped in size with about 17.2 per cent compared to 2020 budget of N4.1 billion,’’ he explained.

Damap applauded commitment of the council’s legislative arm, their zeal, determination and team spirit in ensuring that “we work in synergy for the overall growth and development of our dear council without which we couldn’t have achieved this feat.”

According to him, this administration is not oblivious of the fact that we have enjoyed the patience, tolerance and good will of the honourable house and indeed the generality of the people of Pankshin in discharging our duties in spite the global economic meltdown.

The chairman expressed the hope that the legislators would accord the needed consideration to the budget to enable his administration complete and commission ongoing projects for the accelerated growth and development of Pankshin.

Responding, Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon. Data Sendi-Hezekiah, pledged their readiness to peruse the proposed budget and ensure speedy passage for the good of the people of the area.
