Festus Adefiranye, aspirant for the House of Representatives member, Ileoluji/Okeigbo and Odigbo Federal Constituency, has called on the All Progressives Congress (APC) to digitise the processes for its primaries.

The aspirant made the call on Wednesday at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja, after he submitted his nomination and expression of interest forms to contest the election in
his constituency.

Adefiranye said the process for aspirants from federal constituencies and senatorial districts across the country to travel to obtain and submit their forms at the party national secretariat was cumbersome.

He suggested a decentralisation of the process and its final digitisation to enable aspirants obtain, pay for and submit their nomination forms on line.

Adefiranye urged the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party to consider and adopt the digitisation process in subsequent elections.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the submission of nomination and expression of interest forms for APC aspirants was done centrally at the party national secretariat.

The submission ended on Wednesday except for that of Kwara which was extended by the national working committee of the party.

Speaking on the high fees charged by the party for the forms, Adefiranye said it was a collective decision by the NWC, adding it was in the interest of the party

“I am aware of the criticism from certain quarters that the amounts were high, but in my opinion, I believe the national working committee of our party must have taken good decision.

“They are there for us and for the best interest of our great party,” he said.

Adefiranye, currently a member of Governing Council, Federal Polytechnic, Oko, Anambra said he was seeking the elective office in his constituency “for effective representation, youth empowerment and good governance.”

“My chances of winning are very bright. I was the party candidate in 2015 and my people have been clamouring for me to come out and salvage our constituency.

“I am very close to the grassroots and my plans are to invest in the youth, because I believe they are the bedrock of development.

“I will create employment opportunities for the youth and empower men and women in my constituency,” he said.

On his assessment of the performance of the Ondo state Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, the aspirant said the administration “is working and the people are enjoying the dividends of democracy”.

“The governor is investing massively on infrastructure and agriculture in the state. Two years of our governor has witnessed dramatic change in the state.

“Workers’ salaries are being paid promptly unlike during the last administration.

“He is a God-chosen for us and I want the people of my constituency and the entire Ondo state to continue to support him to take our state to the promise land,” he said. (NAN)
