HAJIA Mariya Waziri, the National Women Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has urged women to rally more support for the party in order to sustain the 35 per cent affirmative action.
Waziri told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Port Harcourt on Thursday, that given the numerical strength of women in the country, their support would enable PDP reclaim its mandate in 2019.
The women leader urged women to ensure that they obtain their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVCs) to enable them exercise their franchise.
“My message to all women, irrespective of their party affiliation is that they should ensure they collect their PVCs.
“Women should get ready for the elections, I urge us all to come out in large number and vote for PDP,” she said.
Waziri said that if PDP returns to power at the centre in 2019, women recognition would be further boosted and sustained.
“I believe that our 35 per cent affirmation will be given adequate recognition in the country’s polity when we recover our mandate in 2019.
“PDP is ready to carry all the women along, the 35 per cent affirmative action is still there for them.
“That’s why I’m welcoming every Nigerian woman to vote PDP for a good life come 2019, “she said.
