A peacebuilding think tank, the Foundation for Peace Professionals also known as PeacePro hailed the Chinese government for successfully facilitating a peace deal between the two factions of leadership in Palestine, with the aim of unifying the Palestinian people for a joint course of national liberation against Israel.

PeacePro also said that the unity of Hamas and Fatah has positioned China as an indisputable global peace maker, noting that China’s status as global peace maker is reaffirmed.

In a statement by the Executive Director of PeacePro, Abdulrazaq Hamzat, the group said that it receives with optimism, the joint declaration by leaders of Palestinian factions, including Fatah and Hamas this week in Beijing, China aimed at ending divisions between the bitter rivals.

“The joint declaration calls for the formation of a Palestinian unity government overseeing the West Bank, Jerusalem and the Gaza Strip and eventually holding elections, for which the leaders of the factions would meet and draw up a road map”.

According to Hamzat, the call for 2 states solution between Israel and Palestine cannot be a reality unless the two factions in Palestine speak with one voice and it is pleasing to note that the Chinese government has successfully created the right environment to bring about unity amongst Palestinian leaders.

Hamzat noted that, the Beijing peace deal has achieved consensus on 4 main issues in Palestine, namely the formation of interim national unity government, creating a unified leadership for the Palestinian course, conduct a free and fair election across the country and jointly facing Israel to secure freedom for the country, noting that implementing these agreements will accelerate the liberation of Palestine.

Hamzat therefore urges all parties in Palestine to stick to the agreement reached in Beinjing and ensure proper implementation in the interest of their country, noting that PeacePro will continue to support the Palestinian liberation struggle for peace and freedom.
