PEEMADI, NTA sign pact to strengthen relationship

THE Power Equipment and Electrical Machinery Development Institute (PEEMADI), Okene, Kogi and the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) Lokoja, Kogi State have signed a bond to further strengthened the existing relationship between them.
This is contained in a statement by Christopher Adedeji, an official of PEEMADI and made available to newsmen in Abuja.
PEEMADI, established in 2004, is among the nine development institutes established by the National Agency for Science and Engineering (NASENI) with its headquarter in Abuja.
Adedeji said that the pact was signed, when the General Manager of the NTA, Lokoja, Alhaji Yahaya Adams, paid a courtesy visit to PEEMADI Managing Director/Chief Executive, Isa Adaja, in Okene.
He explained that Adaja, in his presentation noted that the relationship between the two organisations had long started.
Adaja said that the signing of the bond was just to concretized and make the relationship formal.
According to him, the relationship between the two organisations has got to a level, where PEEMADI has undertaken some professional works with the NTA some years back.
He said that the institute was established as a Centre of Excellence in the design, production and repairs of power equipment and electrical machines required to make Nigeria self-sufficient in power transmission and distribution.
Adaja disclosed that PEEMADI was also into research and development of power equipment like step-down transformers, inverters, generators, as well as electrical machinery such as photovoltaic, cells and generation simulation labs.
“Others functions performed by the institution are electric switch gears construction and digital signs with the aims of transferring the acquired technology to small and medium scale enterprises in the country.”
He expressed happiness about the formalization of the partnership, which he said he considered as potential initiative to drive the economic and industrial development of the country.
“We need you as you need us in many of our various professional services.”
Adaja highlighted various areas that would be of immense benefit to NTA to include solar training, installations, maintenance and optimization as well as engineering knowledge sharing.
Others he listed included maintenance and services of equipment, training in engineering software, supply and installation of specialized equipment.
He stated that PEEMADI’s products that had undergone patency right and ready to be ceded to various SMEs in the country for commercialization included PEEMADI-Staff Attendance Management System (P-SAMS), Automatic Load Isolation Device (ALID 2.0).
“Others are Smart Prepaid Energy Meter (SPEM), Portable Mechanical Ventilator, and Multifunctional inverter Arc welding Machine respectively,” he said.
Earlier, the NTA boss emphasized the urgent need for PEEMADI to embark on a wide range publicity showcasing its enormous economic development products and services to the various end users across the country for economic and industrial revolution.
“We are here to reawake and dust an ephemeral collaboration between us, as at the time the former collaboration was signed, I was not at the helms of affairs of NTA in Lokoja then.”
He stressed the need for PEEMADI products to be properly propagated for national awareness, adding that such would induce different organisations and homes across the country to beginning to looking out for the institution products and services.
“For example, alternative sources of power generation, distribution and transmission from solar energy technology which PEEMADI has enormous experience in,” he said.
Adams admonished PEEMADI management to ensure it blow out its trumpet by itself considering the diverse and economically viable products he witnessed during his tour of the Institute’s production, laboratory, manufacturing, welding, electrical and other workshops.
He stated that he was quite chunk of the enormous goods and services available with PEEMADI which many Nigerians do not know off, or know exactly what the institution was doing.
The general manager, however, assured the Institute of his readiness to offer his platform for PEEMADI to showcase its reservoir of technology to the world, saying, “We would offer our services through which you can reach the world”.
He appreciated PEEMADI management efforts in ensuring all the economic deliverables seen after the tour of the Institute’s various facilities.
According to him, NTA Lokoja will be working towards leveraging on this partnership for mutual benefits, and that PEEMADI managing director/chief executive has shown his readiness to project the institute. (NAN)
