Perm Sec charges staffers to bring innovation to service

ABEL Enitan, the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation has charged staff of the ministry to redouble efforts towards bringing new ideas and innovation into service.
Enitan gave the charge while inaugurating a 15-Man Reform and Innovation Committee to drive the reform agenda of the ministry in Abuja on Tuesday.
Enitan said the committee would be responsible for coordinating reforms and innovation in the ministry.
He used the occasion to honour some staff for their outstanding performances.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the event was organised to drive the ministry’s reform agenda in line with the Federal Civil Service Reform Strategy and Implementation Plan 2021-2025.
Enitan expressed optimism that the committee would create a conducive environment that will promote creativity, and innovation in the day to day activities of the ministry.
He urged them to be diligent while discharging their duties and adhere strictly to the committee’s terms of reference.
According to him, service delivery is devoid of tribalism and selfishness.
Enitan urged the committee members to embrace innovation as the hallmark of service delivery.
“Innovation in the public sector refers to significant improvements in public administration which can be seen as the implementation of new and improved processes, methods aimed at refining the public sector.
“It equally involves bringing new ideas and building on the existing ones” he said.
Enitan urged staff to always remain punctual in their place of work.
“Punctuality helps to achieve more in the service, while dressing well creates a good image of the organisation, those who have been found worthy in this capacity need to be rewarded” he said.
Earlier, Director, Reform Coordination and Service Improvement in the ministry, Mr Barry Odii, said the Committee is to brainstorm towards enhancing service delivery and promote innovation in the public service
Barry said members of the committee were carefully selected from officers on Grade Levels 13 to 15, who are knowledgeable in the nitty gritty of the public service.
According to him, the committee was established to encourage efficiency, teamwork and dedication by discouraging antagonistic spirit where some departments will be working in silos.
Mrs Gloria Azoro, Deputy Director, Transformation Department in the office of the Head of Civil Service of the Federation, appreciated the ministry for engaging quality hands to champion the innovation agenda.
Azoro expressed confidence that the public service would continue to be interesting going by the reform agenda introduced by the ministry.
”With this kind of innovation introduced by the ministry, many officers will turn a new leave.
NAN also reports that members of the committee were drawn from Legal, Human Resource, Social Development, Planning/Research and Statistics and Humanitarian Affairs departments.
Others are Procurement, General Services and Nutrition, Special Needs, Audit and Special Duties.(NAN)
