Peter Obi and the 'Hilda Baci' in the Nigerian Youths
Opinion

IN his quest to become the president of Nigeria, HE Peter Obi assured, other than promised, that his government with Sen. Dr Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed as the vice president will enhance the human capital of Nigerian youths for productivity and global competitiveness. This assurance proves that the LP presidential candidate has a good grasp of the challenges being faced by the enterprising Nigerian youths in meeting their desired goals in business, education, entertainment and research.
Just yesterday, we had on the global stage, a 27-year-old Hilda Baci who cooked round the clock to beat an existing record on Guinness World Record. The previous holder of the *”Cook-a-thon”* , Marathon Cooking title that Ms Hilda broke fantastically yesterday was an Indian chef named Lata Tandon who recorded 87 hours, 45 minutes non-stop in 2019. The young Nigerian from Akwa Ibom State has corrected it to a remarkably unique figure – 100 hours!
Incredible!
Targeting to break such record that no one else had attempted to break since 2019, our dear Hilda aimed initially a target of 96 hours. This feat fits the philosophy of _*”global competitiveness”*_ that Obi-Datti assured the Nigerian youths. Will it be out of place to suggest that the Obi-Datti phenomenon has awakened the sleeping giants in Nigerian youths without even coming aboard yet? Such was the trust garnered during campaigns and such was the hope of a great nation to come. A new Nigeria is indeed on the horizon. It is quite POssible to accomplish many seemingly impossible dreams and aspirations among the ever-spirited young Nigerians.
Yes, Nigerians across the differing tribes and tongues have within themselves what it takes to break records in certain human endearvours especially when they are provided with the right environment to harness their talents in pursuance of their target goals. All it requires for them to accomplish daunted aspirations like the one the ever-determined young Chef Hilda Bassey Effiong broke yesterday is the right leadership at the helm of our national development.
Of course, beating an 87 hours marathon cooking record was a task quite strenuously uphill or even massively Herculean. Yet, the owner of _”My Food by Hilda”_ brand has surpassed such record with tenacity of purpose, hard work, determination, resilience, vision, enterprise and adventurous spirit. These mentioned characteristics are the _’Hilda Baci’_ residing in so many Nigerian youths that, given the right leadership, will propel them to do even more of such exploits in local production and global competitiveness.
A new Nigeria is POssible; just believe!
