PETER Obi, the Labour Party Presidential Candidate, and Valentine Ozigbo, his Special Adviser on Tech and Strategic Alliances, and joined other dignitaries at the annual Cathedraticum Celebration of the Catholic Archdiocese of Onitsha on Thursday, April 6, 2023.
The Chrism Mass took place at the Cathedral Basilica of the Most Holy Trinity and was attended by notable personalities, including His Royal Majesty, Igwe Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe, the Obi of Onitsha.
Speaking to journalists at the event, Valentine Ozigbo praised His Grace Archbishop Valerian Okeke, the Archbishop of Onitsha Archdiocese, for being an immense inspiration to all through his unique approach, compassion, and commitment to serving God and humanity.
“We are here to celebrate one of God’s most precious gifts to humanity, a true beacon of hope and inspiration whose extraordinary life and impact are divinely orchestrated,” Ozigbo said.
“As we gather to honour the remarkable Archbishop Valerian Okeke, I pray that God bestows upon him an abundance of blessings, granting him more years and fortifying him with unwavering strength and wisdom to continue serving as a devoted shepherd in His vineyard,” Ozigbo, who was the recipient of the 2021 Anambra Man of the Year Award, added.
Peter Obi, a former two-term governor of Anambra State whose tenure was marked by a refreshing progressive leadership in the southeastern state, made history this year when he ran for president using a previously unknown Labour Party.
He is widely believed to have won the February 25, 2023 election, where he ran the candidates against the two major political parties in Nigeria, Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress. The national electoral body announced Tinubu as the winner of the election through a process marred by irregularities and illegalities, and has been widely condemned by observers, the opposition political parties, and a wide section of Nigerians.
Obi is in court to reclaim his mandate.
