Apostle Chinedum Ejiofor, a philanthropist and General Overseer, Praise Land Royal Spring International Church, Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council, has charged youths to brace up for nation building.

Ejiofor made this call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) when he received an award of Credence and Excellence from ECOWAS Youth Council for Youth Development in Gwagwalada on Monday.

According to him, youths are deeply embedded with passion to strive with innovative solutions and adequate skills to contribute to societal growth.

He said that the future of Nigerian youths required that they use acquired skills to earn a living and not allow themselves to be used as political thugs during elections.

“Practically, every youth has one talent or the other, all they need is to develop this talent and explore it to be self-reliant for societal growth.

“I advise youths in the country to use their God-given talents for nation-building and shun social vices capable of giving Nigeria a bad name.

“Time has come when every Nigerian should elect visionary leaders, who will make the country great and not vote buyers, who have selfish interest,” he said.

The philanthropist particularly implored the youth to strive toward a better society by imbibing skills that would make them assets to the society.

Besides, he called on the government to initiate policies that would address the challenges facing young people to give them a sense of belonging that would make them to contribute to societal development.

Amb. Seun Emmanuel, the president of the youth council said the aim of the organisation was to dissect governmental policies affecting common young people in the West African sub-region.

Emmanuel said the organisation served as an intermediary between the ECOWAS commission and young people in the area of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) on education, peace and security for development.

“We are here to give an award of credence and excellence for what he has been doing for the betterment of young people in Nigeria and Africa by extension.

“The award is a morale booster for the philanthropist to do more and to encourage African leaders to assist in humanitarian services to develop the region.

“This is an avenue for African leaders to come to the round table and discuss challenges facing young people and how to invest in them for development,” he said.

However, he advised the youth to strive toward taking over the nation’s leadership, saying that such could only be possible if they worked very hard to become productive. (NAN)
