DR Tolulola Bayode, founder of Dorian Home, Akure, an Orphanage, has called on government to make adequate welfare provision for the less privileged in the society.
Bayode, a philanthropist, said this during an empowerment programme to mark her birthday held at Dorian Home, on Sunday in Akure.
She noted that taking care of the less privileged in the would reduce crime in the society and make them useful in the their community.
According to her, special attention should be given to the vulnerable children, widows and youths through empowerment.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that 100 brand new motorcycles, 50 sewing machines, 50 grinding machines, 50 wheel chairs, 50 hair dryer, food stuffs among others were presented to the less privileged at the occasion.
“This is actually what I have been looking forward to do. I want to be celebrating my birthday with the less privileged so that they can feel happy.
”I want them to know that they can also make impact in the society. It is good to be with them. I feel happy and I’m fulfilled.
“What motivated me into doing this, is that when you look at life, you will see that life itself is vanity and I decided that this is what I will live my life for.
“I don’t want to live for anything else, I want to be for God and for humanity. I’m not doing this for anybody to give me accolades, I’m only doing this to give my creator all the glory.
”I’m a child of grace. Looking at this environment, I built it through God’s grace and I’m happy about it,” she said.
Speaking at the occasion, Chief Tayo Alasoadura, a former Minister of State for Niger Delta, who described Bayode as a rare gem, urged her to keep assisting the vulnerable children, women and youths in the society.
Also speaking, Nollywood Actress, Foluke Daramola, applauded Bayode’s philanthropic way of life.
“I knew the celebrant through her philanthropic work, My foundation takes care of the elderly ones and she has helped my foundation on this same course,” she said.(NAN)
