Plane crashes with 132 people on board

THE Chinese aviation authority has confirmed the crash of China Eastern Airlines plane with 132 people on board into the mountains in Guangxi near the city of Wuzhou in the southern Chinese region of Guangxi today.
The Boeing 737-800NG with flight number MU5735 which was on the way from Kunming in Yunnan province, to Guangzhou in Guangdong province had earlier in the day been reported missing according to social media posts.
The crash was first reported by state media initially listing 133 passengers on board. However, the aviation authority confirmed that the 132 figure included nine crew members.
Meanwhile, videos circulating online in China showed a cloud of smoke rising from a hilly region while other showed debris, all seeming to have been taken with mobile phone cameras, although their reliability is yet to be confirmed.
Chinese state broadcaster, CCTV, reported that rescue teams are en route to the accident scene. However, as at the time of this report, there is still no information about the victims or the cause of the crash.
