Tennis fans and punters have a new destination online for non-stop coverage, as the Planet Sport network expands to boost mainstream tennis coverage outside of the Grand Slams
TENNIS365.COM part of Planet Sport Publishing owned by Ole! Media Group, the South Africa-based, was launched earlier this week to take advantage of the growing interest in the sport – around the world. Tennis365.com will go beyond the usual coverage of the Grand Slams, to deliver year-round news, scores, entertainment and useful betting information.
Edited from Planet Sport’s headquarters in Leeds, United Kingdom, the site joins the Planet Sport Publishing’s growing sports media digital network of six million monthly unique users that includes award-winning Football365, TEAMtalk, PlanetRugby and PlanetF1.
Launching on web, Facebook, Instagram and Twitter and shortly on BBM, Tennis365.com will offer fast live scores, breaking news, betting previews, features, quizzes and video news.
For example, Tennis365.com writer Kevin Palmer has already interviewed Boris Becker and Andre Agassi and will be speaking to a wide range of people involved in the game, on and off court.
Tennis tipsters will also give punters information to beat the bookmakers, while the comprehensive live score centre will allow them to track their bets.
Tim Satchell, Planet Sport managing director, said tennis was under-represented by traditional sports media, “so we see it as a real opportunity. Tennis is the third biggest sport by turnover for digital wagering due to the growth of in-play bets and yet, most sports betting advice focuses on football and racing.”
When the Australian Open is over and tennis falls out of view, Tennis365 will continue covering ATP, WTA and ITF tennis with daily news, features, betting advice and game-by-game updates. Satchell and his team are further hoping that the added exposure to tennis, will assist in encouraging more youngsters to participate in the sport, as it is able to be played at all levels of society and at all ages. Basically, it can be played by anyone who can hold a racket.
Deseré Orrill, CEO of Ole! Media Group, congratulated the team in Leeds, saying: “Tennis popularity is on the rise as evidenced by the appetite for news, increased interest in betting opportunities, added long-term participation in the sport and the numerous requests we have received in the past to construct a service of this nature. Game, set and match to Tim and his team for delivering an engaging and informative service, which I have no doubt will rapidly grow to equal the success of our other sites.”
