PLATEAU United FC of Jos beat hosts Wikki Tourists FC of Bauchi 1-0 on Tuesday at the 2023 Gusau/Ahlan preseason cup quarter finals played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi.
The first half of the match did not yield any goal for either side though they both struggled to outshine each other and take the lead.
Olawale Doyin, however, pulled a fast one on the opponents at the resumption of play as he hit the back of the net to take Plateau United into the semi-final stage of the tourney.
At a post-match press briefing, Mr Muhammad Azeez, Wikki Tourists FC’s Technical Adviser, said the preseason competition afforded the team the opportunity to test its players ahead of the Nigerian National League.
“This is a very good opportunity for us to assess players that will be recruited by the team ahead of the forthcoming season.
“I am glad that a lot has been revealed from matches played so far,’’ he said.
With the outcome of Tuesday’s match, Plateau United will slug it out with Katsina United FC at the first semi-finals match on Thursday.
The second semi-final match will be played between Doma United FC of Gombe and El- Kanemi Warriors FC of Maiduguri. (NAN)
