Police arraign 2 men for allegedly assaulting man at ATM gallery

THE police on Tuesday arraigned two men in a Kubwa Grade 1 Area Court for allegedly assaulting one Moses Osor at an Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) gallery.
The police charged Joseph Okpara, 33, and a sales representative, Newton Maliki, 30, with joint act, assault and mischief.
The Prosecutor, Babajide Olanipekun, told the court that Osor reported the matter at the Dutse Alhaji Police Station on April 15.
He said while the complainant on April 14, expressed his displeasure to the defendants who jumped the queue at an ATM gallery located in Dutse Alhaji, Abuja.
He said when the complainant told Maliki to join the queue, Okpara grabbed the complainant by the shirt, worth N15,000 and ripped it.
The prosecutor also said that Maliki chased the complainant into the car park and he lost his “palm sandals” valued at N25, 000 got missing.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 79, 265 and 327 of the Penal Code.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
The judge, Ibrahim Balarabe, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with one surety each who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Balarabe adjourned the case until May 20, for hearing. (NAN)
