Police arraign man, 22, for alleged N2m wire theft

THE police on Friday brought one 22-year-old Ibrahim Abubakar before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for alleged theft of wire worth two million Naira.
Abubakar, whose address was not provided, is charged with illegal house entering, stealing and malicious damage of property.
He, however, pleaded not guilty.
The prosecutor, Insp Oladejo Balogun, told the court that Abubakar committed the offences on Monday at 9.00 p.m., at Idi Obi area of Ibadan.
He said that the defendant willingly and unlawfully entered the house of one Oluwalusi Oladele and stole the wires.
Balogun said that the defendant was caught in the ceiling stealing the wires, some of which he damaged in the process.
He said the offences contravened Sections 412, 390(9) and 451 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Olasinmibo Sanusi-Zubair, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 4 for substantive hearing. (NAN)
