Police arraign man, 23, for alleged N30,000 theft

THE Police on Friday arraigned a 23-year-old man, Akinola Ayodeji, before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing of N30,000 cash.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Sodiq Adeniyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 2 at about 7:30 a.m., at Irona Area in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant stole the cash sum of N30,000 belonging to one Mariam Yahu.
Adeniyi said the offence contravened Section 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.
He urged the court to adjourn the case to enable him to study the file and assemble his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Olawumi Olowolafe, urged the court to grant his client bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Magistrate, Dolapo Babalogbon, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N50,000 with one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case to June 19 for hearing.(NAN)
