Police arraign man, 28, for alleged illegal possession of electricity cable, plastic chair

THE police, on Friday, arraigned a 28-year-old man, Rabiu Ibrahim, in Ado-Ekiti for allegedly being in possession of electricity cable and plastic chairs suspected to have been stolen.
The defendant, of unknown address, was arraigned before an Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on a charge of unlawful possession of electricity cable and plastic chairs.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Oct.12, about 05:00 a.m, in Ado-Ekiti.
He alleged that the defendant had in his possession three rolls of electricity cable and 10 plastics chairs suspected to have been stolen.
Oriyomi said the offence contravened Section 345 of the Criminal Law of Ekiti State, 2021.
The prosecutor asked the court for adjournment to enable him study the casefile and present his witnesses.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against him.
Counsel to the defendant, Mr Olayinka Opaleke, urged the court to grant the defendant bail, with a promise that he would not jump bail.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Adeosun, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 with one surety in like sum.
He adjourned the case till Nov. 22, for hearing. (NAN)
