Police arraign man, 46, over alleged N190,000 theft

The Police, on Wednesday, arranged a 46-year-old man, Omotayo Sunday, before an Ado-Ekiti Magistrates’ Court over alleged N190,000 theft.
The defendant, of no fixed address, is standing trial on a count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Bankole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Jan.18 at about 03:45 pm., at Aba-Iyamedi area of Ado-Ekiti.
Olasunkanmi said that the defendant stole the sum of N190,000, belonging to one Yemi Olowolafe.
He said that the defendant converted the money entrusted to him by the complainant to his own personal use.
According to him, the offence contravenes Section 390 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.
The Magistrate, Mrs Modupe Oshundina, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N50,000, with one surety in like sum.
Oshundina said that the surety must be a civil servant on grade level 15.
She, thereafter, adjourned the case till Feb. 24, for hearing. (NAN)
