THE Police Command in Benue on Friday arraigned one Terzungwe Ageba before a Makurdi Upper Area Court for alleged criminal conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp. Rachael Mchiave, said the case was transferred from the Divisional Police Headquarters Buruku, Buruku Local Government Area, to the State Criminal Investigation Department, Makurdi, via letter number AR:3100/BNS/BU/VOL.4/379 of June 20.

Mchiave said that one Swase Ngutor of Tyowanye town in Buruku LGA reported the case at the Divisional Police station Buruku on June 12.

She said the accused Terzungwe Ageba of Tom Anyiin, Kusuv, Buruku, conspired with Denen Ikyese, alias Dogo, and one other now at large, armed themselves with gun and knife and attacked the informant.

She said the accused attacked the informant in his house together with his manager, one Kohol Terkaa, beat them up, shot him at his back and forcefully collected the manager’s cell phone.

The Prosecutor said that during Police investigations, Terzungwe Ageba was arrested and he confessed to committing the crime and later revealed that Denen Ikyese was the one that organised the robbery.

Mchiave said the accused contravened Sections 6(b) and 1(1), (2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act 2004.

She said investigation into the matter was still ongoing and requested for additional time to complete it.

However, when the case came up for mention no plea was taken for want of jurisdiction.

The Magistrate, Mrs Dooshima Ikpambese, adjourned the case until July 27, for further mention.
