THE Police on Wednesday arraigned a 29-year-old trader, Chibuzor Nwenyim, in a Dei-Dei Grade 1 Area Court Abuja, for allegedly cheating his customer.
The police charged Nwenyim, who lives in Kubwa, Abuja with criminal breach of trust and cheating.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Mr Chinedu Ogade told the court that the complainant, Benjamin Ekenma of Kubwa, Abuja reported the matter on May 12 in Kubwa Police Station.
Ogada said that on March 15, the complainant gave the defendant iron pipes valued at N1.1 million to sell and remit money to him.
He said that the defendant sold all the iron pipes and dishonestly refused to remit the money, but converted the said money to his personal use.
The prosecutor said that during police investigation, the defendant could not give a satisfactory account of himself.
He said that all efforts made to recover the goods or the money proved abortive.
Ogada further told the court that the offence contravened Sections 312 and 322 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
