Police arraign woman, 2 others over alleged assault

THE Police on Wednesday arraigned Adebayo Funke, 42, Hammed Yusuf, 42, and Adebayo Adebolu, 37, in an Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court in Osun over alleged assault.
The prosecutor, Cpl. Olawale Odusina told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Nov. 8, around 8:30am at Abewela Street, Ile-Ife.
Odusina said they assaulted Alegbeleye Olaolu by beating him up with sharp objects, inflicting injuries on his face.
He said that they also assaulted Yetunde Alegbeleye by beating her with objects.
According to him, the offence contravenes Sections 351 and 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the accused persons pleaded not guilty to the allegations.
The defence counsel, Mr Leke Dada, applied for the bail of the accused persons in most liberal terms promising that his clients would not jump bail when granted.
Magistrate Adejumoke Ademola-Olowolagba admitted their applications to bail in the sum of N100, 000 each, and a surety in like sum.
Ademola-Olowolagba added that the sureties must swear to affidavit of means, reside within the court jurisdiction and must be close relatives of the applicants.
She adjourned the case until Nov. 23, for mention.
