Police arrest 11 armed robbers in Kabul

Police in Kabul have arrested an 11-member armed band involved in extorting money from drivers at the Kabul entrance gates, the Ministry of Interior said in a statement on Friday.

During the operation, police  also discovered seven AK-47 rifles and two vehicles from the possession of the arrested robbers in Arghandi area outside Kabul city, the statement added.

The Afghan government, following a fresh security policy put in place a couple of weeks ago, has arrested hundreds of people involved in various criminal activities including murdering, robbery, armed theft and disturbing public order across Kabul. (dpa/NAN)
