The Cross River Police Command on Monday said it had arrested two suspects in Ogoja Local Government Area of the state for vandalising solar light equipment in the area.
The State Commissioner of Police, Mr Hafiz Inuwa, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Calabar that the suspects were arrested by operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad on Oct. 11, 2018, through a tip-off.
Inuwa said that operatives from SARS quickly swung into action and arrested the suspects, adding that four street light solar batteries were recovered from the suspects.
“Upon interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime and efforts are ongoing to arrest their receivers.
“We will charge the suspects to court as soon as investigation is completed,’’ he said.
The commissioner told NAN that the fight against crime in the state “is a continuous exercise’’.
Inuwa said that the command would not tolerate any form of illegality.
He urged residents of the state to always avail the command with useful and timely information that would lead to the arrest of suspected criminals in the state. (NAN)
