Police reject N1m, arrest suspect

THE DPO of Tafa division, Idris Ibrahim rejected an inducement offer of N1 million and.arrested a wanted kidnapper.
The statement by Olumuyiwa Adejobi, PRO, Police Headquarters, Abuja, on January 28, 2024 stated that on January 20, the Nigeria Police Force on intelligence raided a hotel in Tafa area in Kaduna State and arrested one Bello Mohammed, 28, from Zamfara State.
According to the statement, the suspect is an alleged member of a notorious gang that is responsible for the kidnap of the family members of a lawyer, Ariyo in Bwari, in the FCT on January 2, and wasted some of their victims, including Nabeeha, the daughter of the legal practitioner on January 13 in their kidnapers’ camp in Kaduna State.
It said that the suspect was found with the sum of N2.25m in the hotel and allegedly offered the sum of N1 million as a form of inducement to him which the DPO rejected and carried out his duty.
The suspect also allegedly confessed to be involved with bandit groups in Kaduna, headed by Mai Ganu, A.K.A Godara, whose camp has been destroyed.
The suspect, according to the Police, is helping out with investigations.
The statement added that the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, has ordered that the suspect be handed over to the DFI-IRT in Abuja for discreet investigations into the matter and arrest of all other culprits involved in the act.
“The IGP also commended the DPO for his commitment and professionalism in carrying out his duty and assured that the Police will leave no stone unturned in decimating criminally minded individuals, while promising Nigerians a more secure society for all,” the statement said.
