THE Kano State Primary Health Care Management Board, says it has targeted 610, 855 children for mop-up immunisation against polio in 2021.

Dr Tijjani Hussaini, Executive Director of the board, stated this in a statement signed by Nabulusi Kofar Naisa, the Public Relagions Officer of the board, on Tuesday in Kano.

The statement said the director made the disclosure at a Routine Immunisation Annual Work Plan for 2021 held in Kaduna between Oct. 7 and Oct. 9.

Hussaini said the exercise was designed to cover children missed during the previous exercises due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The board deem it necessary to brief  and engage stakeholders from the state and local government levels, to build on the tremendous achievements recorded in 2020.

“The board also increased the number of  targetted children to cover up the gap created due to the COVID-19 pandemic,” Hussaini was quoted as saying in the statement.

According to him, the board had embarked on community sensitisation activities to create awareness on the disease and mobilise parents to present their wards for immunisation.

The statement quoted Hussaini as commending Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, for the support towards the successful implementation of immunisation programme in the state. (NAN)
