Anambra Government Unhappy with Communities over Choose Your Project Initiative

The Anambra State government is unhappy with communities yet to complete Choose Your Project Initiative

 

ANAMBRA State Government says it is not happy that some communities have yet to complete the 1st phase of the “N20 million Community Choose Your Project initiative’’.

The government said it was almost ready to release funds for 3rd tranche of initiative. The project initiative started in 2016.

According the Commissioner for Information and Communication Strategy, Ogbuefi Tony Nnachetta in a news release, announced that part of decisions reached at this week’s state Executive Council Meeting were that funds would be released soon

Nnachetta said that council has directed all Presidents-General, yet to complete their projects, to do so without delay.

“Council frowns at this delay and directed the Presidents-General, Traditional institutions and Town organisations to take immediate actions to galvanise for the completion of these projects before the end of February 2018.

The communities are:

Anambra South Senatorial Zone

  1. Ezira (Orumba South LGA)
  2. Ihite (Orumba South)
  3. Oraifite (Ekwusigo)
  4. Awgbu (Orumba North)
  5. Nnewi (Nnewi North)

Anambra Central Senatorial Zone

  1. Awka (Awka South)
  2. Oba (Idemili South)
  3. Ugbenu (Awka North)
  4. Isiagu (Awka South)
  5. Ebenebe (Awka North)

Anambra North Senatorial Zone

  1. Obeagwe (Ogbaru)
  2. Ifite-Anam (Anambra West)
  3. Ukwalla (Anambra West)
  4. Ogbunike (Oyi)
  5. Umueze Anam (Anambra West)
  6. Ifite Anam (Anambra West)
  7. Ogidi (Ogbaru)
  8. Aguleri (Anambra East)
  9. Igbakwu (Ogbaru)

The commissioner, however, observed that a certain number of communities had yet to process the 2nd tranche of funds.

“These communities are asked to hasten up and conclude this process.

“Government is set to activate the third tranche shortly by March 2018 and completions of one and second tranches are clear prerequisites for communities to qualify.’’

On road infrastructure, “government is equipping the Anambra Road Maintenance Agency to operate three work teams in each of three senatorial zones and aggressively maintain the road network in the state.

“Ndi Anambra are encouraged to be watchful of the roads for repair and cooperate with the workforces.’’

On Lassa fever, Nnachetta said that council was concerned about the outbreak of the fever and continued to provide considerable medical attention through the professionals at the Anambra State Ministry of Health.

He enjoined everyone to take extra care at improving cleanliness and watch out for any symptoms, which should be promptly reported to health authorities.

“Council requests all Local Governments, Churches and Unions to disseminate to our people to be extra vigilant in schools and public places.’’

On burial of elder statesman, Ekwueme, “Government notes with satisfaction and gratitude the cooperation of all and sundry — Ndi Anambra, Clerics, Schools, Markets, Corporate offices, transporters and Security services.

“Government also wishes to remind our people, particularly vigilances groups and President-Generals in the Oko and Umunze areas to protect and safeguard the recent huge investment on street lights undertaken by the Anambra Government.
