Buhari Makes New Appointments, renews Tenure of Oyeyemi, Momoh, Others

MUHAMMADU Buhari, president of Nigeria, has approved the renewal of the tenure of six chief executive officers of federal agencies. The president has also approved the appointment of two new chief executive officers of federal agencies and one senior special assistant.

Those whose appointment were renewed are Boboye Oyeyemi, corps marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, for another four years with effect from July 24, Jafaru Alunua Momoh, chief medical doctor, National Hospital, Abuja, for another four years with effect from July 5.

Also, affected are Prof. Eli Jidere Bala, director general, Energy Commission of Nigeria who will serve for another four years with effect from May 6 and Nwadinigwe Cajetan Uwatoronye, medical director, National Ortopaedic Hospital, Enugu, with effect from May 30.

Others are Mohammed Jibrin, director general, National Board for Technology Incubation, NBTI, for another four years with effect from April 9, and Prof. Mohammed Haruna, executive vice chairperson, National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure, for final term of five years with effect from April 3.

The new appointees are Ali Adamu, Federal College of Education (Technical), Gombe, Gombe State, for four years with effect from May 25 and Yaya Baba Adamu, medical director, Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, for four years with effect from April 1.

The presidency has also approved the appointment of Ambassador Yahaya Lawal as senior special assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations. The appointment is with effect from April 1.

A statement signed by Olusegun Adekunle, permanent secretary (General Services Office), Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation made available to Realnews on Tuesday “enjoined the appointees to live up to the high expectations of the public for prompt, conscientious and self-less service at all times. The President urged them to regard public offices as trust that should not be betrayed.”
