Ifediba Mazeli, a UK-based All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, member, from Onitsha, has been applauded by Anambra West flood victims over relief materials that she donated to them.

An obviously elated crowd hailed her for the gesture, being one of the first individual donors, to rally to their support.

Mazeli, while addressing the displaced persons at Crowther Primary School, Onitsha said she was moved by the sufferings that they endured to seek refuge in her hometown, Onitsha.

“Being someone on a humanitarian profession—a Nursing Psychologist, I cannot standby watching the people looking distressed due to no fault of theirs.

“I resolved immediately to share the little I have with them,’’ she said.

She, then, commended Governor Willie Obiano for his efforts at providing necessary materials, which she noted appreciated by the people of Ala and Olugwa communities.

She had presented them with snacks – cartons of Gala, kiddies shoes, under wears, bags of sachet water, hanger, pap for little children who were still breast feeding.

Mazeli urged them judiciously use relief materials that she bought for them.

Martins Nwamba, Holding Centre manager, thanked Mazeli on behalf of the displaced persons and entire Ala and Olugwa communities.

He enjoined the beneficiaries to use the materials wisely.

Nwamba appealed to other Ndi Anambra to come to their aid, stressing that more relief materials would still be needed.

According to one of the victims, Mrs Amaka Amah with two children applauded Mrs Mazeli for coming to their aid at this trying period.

She urged other spirited Ndi Anambra to emulate Mazeli for the good works she did, enjoining her not to relent on her good works.

Mazeli recently relocated from the UK, to come and vie for a seat in the Anambra State House of Assembly.
