DPC urges politicians to stop overheating polity

THE Democratic People’s Congress (DPC), on Wednesday, cautioned politicians not to overheat the polity of the nation in the interest of democracy and peace.

The National Chairman of the party, Rev. Olusegun Peters, who said this in a statement in Abuja, was of the view that such acts could impede on Nigeria’s democracy.

According to Peters, Nigeria is at the crossroads and needs the prayers of all compatriots to navigate this trying time in the nation’s political process.

“The need to build a strong, virile, progressive and equitable democratic society cannot be overemphasised and requires the efforts, sacrifice and patriotism of the populace.

“DPC urges politicians to seek the interest and progress of the nation at all times and avoid overheating the polity which could impede our hard-won democracy,” he said.

Peters said that in preparation for the 2019 general elections, DPC would hold nationwide ward congresses on Sept. 13, 2018.

He said that the Local Government congresses and State House of Assembly primaries would hold on Sept. 15, 2018.

He also said that the party’s House of Representatives primary would hold on Sept .19, 2018 while Senatorial primaries would take place on September 22.
According to the chairman, state congresses and governorship primaries of DPC would hold on September 28.

He said that the national convention and presidential primary would take place on October 6 at DRACC, AMAC/ACO Housing Estate, Sabon Lugbe, Airport Road, Abuja.

Peter said that DPC was determined to provide progressive leadership in the country in the renewed efforts at building a better nation. (NAN)
