THE Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has deployed 532 staff for the forthcoming Feb. 23 Presidential and the National Assembly elections in Enugu State.

The Sector Commander, Enugu State Command, Mr Kalu Ogbonnaya, made this known in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Tuesday.

Ogbonnaya said that the deployed staff had been warned to remain apolitical and professional in their election duties.

He said that the officers and men had gone through extensive election duty training organised by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other sister security agencies.

Ogbonnaya said that the command had also organised series of in-house election duty trainings for its staff as a step-down training for all staff.

According to him, we are well-prepared both through extensive training and motivation from the service concerning the elections and we are leaving no stone unturned.

“We are assuring Nigerians that FRSC staff will show dedication to duty on  election days in the state.

“We have made it clear that the corps will not tolerate any form of misconduct from any personnel on election duty.

“We will sanction personnel involved in such misconduct appropriately,’’ he said.

Ogbonnaya, however, urged residents of Enugu State to come out en masse to exercise their civic duty by voting candidates of their choice.

“FRSC and other sister security agencies will provide adequate protection for all residents of the state,’’ he said.

The sector commander, however, promised that officers and men would display exemplary conduct during the forthcoming general elections. (NAN)
