AS Nigerians prepare for the forthcoming general elections, Dr. Amina Bello, wife of Niger governor, has advised women in the state to vote for continuity.

“I want you to vote for continuity in office. I want you to vote Alhaji Abubakar Bello, the APC governorship candidate, for a second tenure,” she told the women at a rally in Kontagora on Tuesday.

The rally was organised by women to garner support for the re-election of Amina’s husband, Alhaji Abubakar Bello.

According to her, re-electing Bello as governor will mean more opportunities and empowerment for women in the state.

“I want you to vote for continuity by voting for the APC at all levels of governance.

“This is a government for the people, the poor and for women. Everybody knows this.

“Gov. Bello has done a lot for women in the last three years. He will do even more for us if we give him a second term,’’ she added.

She stated that the APC was counting on the support of women because they constituted the bulk of the voters.

In her remarks, the State APC women leader, Hajiya Fatima Mustapha, commended Gov. Bello for placing premium on issues  affecting women.

Mustapha further lauded the wife of the governor for personally conducting free surgeries on women with Vesico Vaginal Fistula (VVF), in the state.

She also thanked the governor’s wife for acquiring a cancer screening machine for women, and particularly commended her for ensuring that the services were free.

‘‘In times past, we used to travel to Kaduna and Abuja to carry out such test, but now, we can conveniently do it here,” she said. (NAN)
