THE National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun has warned politicians and their supporters against intimidation, harassment and attack of corps members deployed as INEC ad-hoc staff, during the general elections in the state.

Mr Emmanuel Attah, the State Coordinator of NYSC, gave this warning during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Osogbo on Wednesday.

According to Attah, NYSC frowns at any form of violence and will not tolerate any act of intimidation, harassment and attack of any corps member before, during or after the elections.

“NYSC is a friend to all and nobody’s enemy because the scheme is apolitical and do not belong to any political party.

“Political gladiators should see corps members as their own children just as their own children are serving in other states.

“How will they feel if their own children are attacked, harassed or held hostage because they serve as INEC ad-hoc staff where they are?.

“They should see and treat these corps members like their children because they are our children, who we need to keep safe and care for,” he said.

Attah assured that the corps members would discharge their duties credibly, stating that they had been fully sensitised on electoral processes.

He also said the corps members had also been warned to remain apolitical and should desist from fraternising with either politicians or political parties.

He, however, warned that the NYSC would not take it lightly with anybody who intimidates or attacks any corps member during the elections. (NAN)
