Gov. Ikpeazu inaugurates 3.7km Umuode Road in Aba

GOV. Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia, on Tuesday, inaugurated the 3.7km Umuode Road in Aba to boost economic activities and strengthen unity among communities in the area.

Speaking at the event in Aba, Ikpeazu said that the road project was a reflection of the state government’s commitment to ensuring that every part of the state would be developed.

The governor said that the newly constructed road would be adorned with street lights to enhance the aesthetics of the area and safeguard it against criminal activities.

He assured the people that the state government would not relent in boosting infrastructural development and would begin the construction of Ife Road of  Ode-Ukwu community, in no distant time.

“Our vision for the economy of this place is centered on providing an enabling environment, which will facilitate an increase in economic activities.

“It is expected that this road will help members of Ode-Ukwu community, to interact with neighboring communities, especially in the area of trade and commerce.

“This will go a long way in boosting the internally generated revenue (IGR) in the state,” Ikpeazu said.

In his speech,Mr Eziuche Ubani ,the Commissioner for Works ,appealed to the people of Abia to be patient with the state government ,adding that no road project would be abandoned.

“The newly constructed road is 3.7km with a width of 10 meters and good drainage system. I assure you that serious efforts are in place to complete other roads under construction,” Ubani said.

In his remark, Eze Young Ajuzie  of Ode-Ukwu Community ,thanked the state government for constructing the Umuode Road ,adding that the gesture had alleviated the suffering of members of the community.

Ajuzie called for the state government’s intervention in the construction of Umuode-Ife road in the community, to enhance socioeconomic development in the area. (NAN)
