Guber Poll: NGO urges security agents to be proactive

A Kano-based NGO, Society for Educational Development and Socio-Democratic Activities (SEDSAC), has called on security agents to be proactive and apolitical during and after the Saturday’s governorship and state Assembly elections in the state.

SEDSAC Assistant Executive Director, Habibu Dahiru-Sagagi, made this call in a statement made available to newsmen in Kano on Thursday.

He said there was need for all security agents to discharge their duties without fear or favour so as to ensure peaceful conduct during and after the elections.

“Many people anticipate violence during the forthcoming governorship and House of Assembly elections in the state.

In view of the foregoing, SEDSAC wishes to enjoin the security agents to be proactive and non partisan in discharging their duties,”he said.

Dahiru-Sagagi warned youths not to allow themselves to be used by desperate politicians as well as avoid acts capable of causing violence during the election.

He warned politicians and their followers against engaging in acts capable of breaching peace during and after the elections.

He advised electorate to vote for credible candidates of their choice for the entrenchment of good governance in the country. (NAN)
