THE Anambra State government will harness every available potential to make the state, economically viable.

Governor Willie Obiano said this in Awka, while promising to continue to invest massively in improving the welfare of the people.

“With the structures I put in place, the state will be economically independent without depending on federal or joint allocations to take care of recurrent and capital projects.

“I have achieved 60 per cent of this and the remaining will be achieved after my 8-year tenure,’’ Obiano said.

He stressed the need to strengthen the security system in the state by providing security apparatus, especially to local vigilance to enable them to perform effectively.

“We will continue our partnership with vigilance groups in various communities. We have to empower them with adequate logistics; we will pay N20, 000 to over 30 of them monthly.

“We are doing all these necessary arrangements for the good of the people. When we achieve the fiscal independence, it will take care of workers and traders in the state,” Obiano noted.

The governor, however, said that he would achieve this through massive investments in agriculture as well as attract investors into the state to create jobs and increase the internally generated revenue.
