INEC distributes election materials to 17 LGAs in Enugu

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says both sensitive and non-sensitive election materials have arrived its offices in the 17 council areas of Enugu State.

INEC’s Public Relations Officer in the state, Chief Puis Ezeh, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on Friday.

Ezeh said that the materials arrived to the farthest council areas, Uzo Uwani, at about 7p.m. on Thursday.

He noted that the materials at the various council headquarters are being sorted out for onward movement to the Registration Area Centres (RACs) in each council area.

“After the sorting of the materials, both sensitive and non-sensitive will leave the council headquarters or secretariats for the RACs on Friday.

“While latest by 6p.m Friday, every material will be at the RACs for INEC ad hoc staff to move them to the nearby polling units before 7a.m. on the dot on Saturday morning.

“Election will commence by 8 a.m. on the dot as instructed by INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu,’’ he said.

Ezeh, however, appealed to the residents of the state to come out en mass to vote for the candidates of their choice.

NAN reports that the rescheduled Presidential and National Assembly Elections would take place nationwide on Feb. 23. (NAN)
