THE Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has started recording increase in the number of people turning up for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration, CVR, exercise at designated Centres in Anambra.

Denncis Nwabor, electoral officer, Anaocha Local Government Area, LGA,  said the ommission had been registering appreciable good number of people.

The exercise had been targeting those who just turned 18 and adults that had yet register as well as those wishing to change to their current locations.

He added that the commission opened rotational centres to aid registration of people that could not get to local government, LG, headquarters.

Nwabor re-assured the people that INEC would hold stakeholders’ meeting for adequate sensitisation on the exercise.

The residents of the area, Kenechukwu Okeke and Chika Onwukeme from Adazi Nnukwu and Obeledu described the exercise as smooth.

They commended the federal government for providing the people opportunities to get their voters cards in preparation for the upcoming general election.

Meanwhile, in Idemili North LGA, INEC could not meet up with large turnout of people for registration exercise.

The residents complained of insufficient registration materials, which caused delays in smooth running of the exercise.

  1. Ezeaku, INEC zonal supervisor in the area, pointed out that challenges facing the commission include poor power supply, delays in scanning and insufficient ink.

She appealed to INEC to provide enough working materials as people were willing to register.
