Nasarawa Emir urges Nigerians to support govt policies for devt

IBRAHIM Usman-Jibrin, the Emir of Nasarawa in Nasarawa State has called on Nigerians to support government policies and programmes for national development.

Usman-Jibrin, a former Minister of Environment made the call on Tuesday when he received a delegation from the State ministry of Environment and Solid Minerals in his palace.

The delegation was led by the Commissioner, Mr Sam Agidi and other management team of the state ministry.

The first class traditional rulers said that every government needed the prayers and support of its citizens to succeed.

Usman-Jibrin said that he would continue to provide the needed advice and support to the ministry as an environmentalist for the success of the state in the sector.

“Even though I am no longer in the system, I am ready to offer my advice and support when it comes to the issues of environment among other areas for the benefit of all. People should continue to protect the environment in order to ensure environmental sustainability,” he said.

Usman-Jibrin also called on his subjects and Nigerians to be law abiding, respect constituted authorities in the interest of peace and development.

Earlier, Agidi said that they were at the monarch’s palace to congratulate him on his appointment as the new Emir.

He said that the visit was also aimed at soliciting for the advice and support of the Emir especially in the area of environmental issues to ensure its sustainability.

The commissioner assured of the ministry’s continued commitment in initiating good policies and programmes that would protect the environment for the development of the state. (NAN)
