FORMER Vice President, Atiku Abubakar has expressed optimism that contrary to permutations and prophets of doom, Nigeria shall rise out of its present condition and be a leading light not for only Africa, but the entire black race.

According to a statement signed by Jacob Onjewu Dickson, foundation’s director of publicity, Atiku expressed this while giving his remarks in Kaduna, on Saturday as a special guest of honour during the inauguration of the Kaduna State executives of the Atiku Care Foundation, held at the historic Arewa House on Saturday.

He said that agitations and counter agitations are expected in a democratic setting and instead of leading to the break up of the country, would only consolidate on the country’s democratic setting as well as bring about mutual respect to the various heterogeneous nationalities that make up the Nigerian people.

“We have not found ourselves here by error. We were destined for greatness even before the white men first set their feet on our soil. Their coming here was to only open us up to better ideas which will in no time position us to not only be giants of Africa, but a leading light to the entire civilised world,” Atiku who was represented by his son, Abba Atiku Abubakar emphasized.

He encouraged Nigerians to remain focused and resilient towards building the nation of their dreams.

Atiku commended the founders of the foundation for their efforts at bringing succour to several people in communities across the nation, while predicting that the foundation in the long run will leave lasting legacies that would bring honour to the descendants of the founders.

Earlier in his remarks, Ambassador Aliyu bin Abbas, founder and national chairman’s of the foundation,  said that the foundation was conceived bearing in mind the genuine love that Atiku Abubakar has for the masses.

He explained that within the period of existence, several humanitarian gestures have been carried out in line with the grand patron’s aspirations in wiping away tears from the faces if several vulnerable members of the Nigerian society scattered across the 36 states of the country and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Abuja.
