THE Rotary Club International, Dutse branch, Jigawa, has donated tricycles to 10 physically challenged people in the area.

Alhaji Usman Muhammad, the Chairman, state chapter of the Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD), made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Dutse on Monday.

Muhammad commended the club for the gesture, saying that the tricycles would enable the beneficiaries attend schools regularly.

“We really appreciate this assistance from the Rotary Club Dutse branch. The tricycles will help them to go to school regularly,’’ he said.

Muhammad noted that the tricycles would also ease movement of the beneficiaries from one place to another.

He, therefore, advised wealthy individuals and other philanthropists to emulate the gesture so as to make life easier for physically challenged persons in the state.

“Assisting physically challenged persons will enable them to be the best they can and bring the best out of them.

“The gesture will also improve the enrolment of physically challenged pupils into schools, attendance and retention in schools, ‘’ he said.

According to him, the tempo, if maintained, would go a long way in bridging the educational gap between the physically challenged children and able children in the state.

‘‘It is also our hope that the gesture will boost the literacy level of the beneficiaries.

“We are, therefore, appealing to parents to ensure that their disabled children enroled in both Islamic and conventional schools in good time.

“JONAPWD will not relent in calling on parents of disabled children to send them to school in order to help them secure a brighter future,’’ Muhammad said. (NAN)
