REV. Fr. Polycarp Lubo, the Chairman of Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Plateau, has urged residents of the state to be law-abiding, as Nigeria holds its general elections on Saturday.

The chairman made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Jos.

He said that the state had been bedeviled with insecurity issues but was now currently peace, saying that its status should not be jeopardised.

“We will not have these elections create unrest in Plateau state, because the governor and good people of Plateau have worked hard for this peace.

“So, I am calling on Christians and the good people of Plateau to be law-abiding and exercise their civil rights.

“This is by going out to vote for their choice, because the country itself should have good leadership,” he said.

He said Nigerians had a critical role to facilitate rapid development in the state by voting selfless leaders.

“Do not vote for party but vote for the credibility of individuals, those who have the fear of God and particularly those who have concrete and architectural plans for the state and the country.

“No election is worth anyone lives, vote wisely and go and rest, so that the people you vote for will give you the best result,” he said.

He urged the Plateau people not to be discouraged to vote, saying it is their opportunity to be change agents through voting good leaders at all level of government.

He urged politicians not to take laws into their hands when the results do not favour them but take their grievance to the appropriate authority for redress.

He said that their selfish interest should not jeopardise the interest of the people, adding that no one is above the law.

“I have told that security agencies that even if me, as CAN chairman, do not do well by disrupting elections, I should be arrested and prosecuted, so also anyone that is found wanting,” he said.(NAN)
