THE much awaited farewell crusade of Reinhard Bonnke, international evangelist, to Africa is here at last. Bonnke, who is already in Lagos to lead the farewell crusade and passing the burning torch, scheduled to begin on Wednesday, November 8, said he had chosen Nigeria due of its huge population.

Speaking at a world press conference on Monday, November 6, Bonnke said Nigeria and Africa would witness the outpouring of the power of God. He said the power of God would come down and the Word of God would be preached in Lagos. “I believe in my heart that what you are going to see this week in Lagos is what you have never seen before. The power of God is going to come down.

“The Word of God is going to be preached and the Holy Spirit will fall. From this crusade, there will be ripple effect across the whole world. No man has invented water but no man can live without water that is what the gospel is. It is not manmade, it is not self made. It is divine,” he said.

Bonnke, 77, described Nigeria as his favourite nation in Africa and said he was glad to be back in the country for his last crusade in Africa. “I have been telling my wife that it is an honour and blessing that God has allowed me to come to Nigeria again. Nigeria is my favourite country because I have visited it more than any other country in Africa. What God has done here is absolutely amazing and there are prophecies for Nigeria. And I believe that when the word will fall on the ground, Jesus will confirm His word,” he said.

The evangelist said he had no regrets for preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ in Africa. He noted that exactly 50 years ago he left Germany and arrived in Africa to preach Jesus Christ to the continent. “When people ask me whether I regret coming to Africa? I don’t regret. Absolutely no regret because my plan always was to preach Jesus Christ.

“And I will continue to preach Jesus as long as God allows me. I am after soul. I am not after money but after soul winning for Jesus. Every soul saved is one less in hell and one more in heaven. The Lord spoke to me to come to Nigeria for farewell crusade. The Holy Spirit tells me that when the passing of the torch will happen, that something great will happen in Nigeria and Africa at large,” Bonnke said.

On his part, Alexander Bamgbola, chairman, Central Working Committee of the Bonnke Farewell Crusade, said the nation was glad that Evangelist Bonnke chose Nigeria for his last crusade in Africa. “We believe that if there is any darkness still remaining in Africa, after this crusade, such darkness will vanish. Bonnke arrived on Sunday and we can feel the mighty presence of God in this land. We believe that millions of people will receive Christ,” he said.

The crusade which will hold at Sparklight Estate, Berger, opposite Opic Event Centre, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway, will start on Wednesday, November 8 and run through Sunday, November 12.
