THE Presidential Amnesty Programme has been honoured as the New Telegraph Newspapers 2023 most Innovative Government Agency of the Year Award.
The well attended event which featured several awards to outstanding personalities, public and private sector players held at the Federal Palace Hotel on Victoria Island, Lagos.
Prince Ita Henshaw, Technical Assistant to the Interim Administrator received the award which the Presidential Amnesty Programme had earlier described as a testimony in recognition of the worthy efforts of the Major General Barry Ndiomu led management team to transform the Niger Delta ex-agitators from stipend reliance to entrepreneurs and employers of labour in the region.
The PAP also noted that it is pleasing to know that the innovative efforts by Major General Ndiomu to re-define and re-position the PAP have attracted both national and global attention to elicit the New Telegraph award as the most Innovative Government Agency.
“This award is dedicated to all registered beneficiaries under the Programme and it will no doubt encourage us as a team to be more proactive to do more to improve the socio-economic well-being of the ex-agitators and to sustain the existing peace in the region”.
“Our innovative policies on the cooperative scheme is a success story just like the resuscitated aviation programme which has trained 75 pilots and Aircraft Maintenance Engineers as well as the PAP scholarship scheme for both off and on shore students”
The PAP emphasis on non formal education programs in skills acquisition, technical/vocational training as well as ICT have placed beneficiaries in a position to become drivers of the Renewed Hope Agenda in the Niger Delta region.
“The PAP under the leadership of Major General Barry Ndiomu will continue to work closely with all stakeholders to pool our resources together in the realization of the dreams of the founding fathers and in achieving the PAP mandate”.
