KATSINA State Commissioner for Works, Housing and Transport, Mr Sani Magaji-Ingawa, has called on residents of the state to always prevent vandalism of public property in their respective areas.

Magaji-Ingawa made the call when officials of Katsina Metropolis Residents’ Association, led by Prof. Isma’il Mara, paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Katsina on Friday.

He said that this would serve as a proactive measure to safeguard drainages, electric cables and street lights being provided, as government embarked on road construction and expansion within Katsina metropolis.

The commissioner warned that improper usage of drainages and vandalism of electrical cables could cause flooding and throw people into darkness, thereby affecting socio-economic activities.

“I am calling on all stakeholders to do the needful to safeguard the facilities for our own benefits,” he said.

On the request for government to extend the dualisation of CPS-Masanawa-Kofar ‘Yandaka round about to Filin Polo and Ramin Kura area, the commissioner said that government was aware of the clamour for the extension.

He said that the Gov. Dikko Radda-led administration was approaching development projects based on availability of funds.

“With time, such projects will see the light of the day.

“Government will want a situation where all the congested and densely populated areas are opened up and linked with good road network,” he said.

Earlier, the association’s chairman said he and other members were in the commissioner’s office to extend appreciation to the state government for the dualisation of CPS-Masanawa-Kofar ‘Yandaka round about road.

Mara requested for extension of the road project to Filin Polo up to Ramin-Kura area in order to open up more areas and link them with other major roads in the capital city and enhance socio-economic activities.

Also speaking, another member of the association, Alhaji Tanimu Sada, appealed to the state government to consider their youths in job opportunities.

He particularly said that they should be considered as drivers in the State Transport Authority (KTSTA) anytime the new buses were acquired as well as in road construction. (NAN)
