PROF. Emmanuel Ibezim of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences, University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), has emerged the winner of the 2023 May & Baker Professional Service Award in Pharmacy.

A statement issued on Monday in Lagos disclosed that Ibezim beat many other top contenders to clinch the most prestigious award in the
pharmacy profession.

According to the statement, Ibezim wins the award on account of his outstanding and innovative contributions in the pharmaceutical sciences and research field in Nigeria.

“The award, which has a price tag of N1 million was presented to Ibezim at the 96th Annual National Conference of the Pharmaceutical Society of Nigeria (PSN) held recently in Gombe,” it said.

Ibezim, who received the plaque and certificate for the award from Mr Obinna Emeribe, Head, Pharma Sales and Marketing, May & Baker Nigeria Plc, thanked the company and the PSN for recognising his
efforts in the practice of pharmacy.

He said that the award would motivate him into further pursuits of excellence in his profession.

The May & Baker Professional Service Award in Pharmacy was instituted in 2005 to recognise outstanding achievements and contributions by individual industry operators, practitioners, public servants, and academicians/researchers in the practice of pharmacy in Nigeria.

Speaking, the Chairman of the award committee, Mr Anthony Oyawole, thanked the management of May & Baker Nigeria Plc for sustaining the award over the years.

Oyawole, who applauded the significant increase in the winning price, urged pharmacists in non-academic practice to show greater innovation to be able to win such awards. (NAN)
