General News
QNET, a direct-selling company, has partnered with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment (FMLE) to train and educate youths on illegal migration and fake job offers.
The Regional General Manager of QNET, Mr Biram Fall, made this known in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
Fall said that the partnership aimed to achieve an employability training, to empower Nigerian youths.
He said that the initiative was part of firm’s ongoing “Say No!” campaign, to combat fake job offers, leading to illegal migration across Africa.
According to him, the two-day programme featured a curriculum designed to equip participants with essential skills for safely navigating the job market.
“We are proud to partner with the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in this critical initiative, as the unemployment rate of 53.4 per cent remains alarmingly high.
“Investing in robust training and continuous education programmes is essential for creating a resilient and competent workforce.
“By doing so, we are protecting them from financial loss and boosting their employability against scam and fraudulent activities,” he said.
The regional manager said that QNET faced the challenge of checking miscreants who use the company’s name to lure unsuspecting youths into fake job offers.
He said that the company was taking extensive public education programmes to combat the issue.
“We have witnessed first-hand the devastating impact of these criminal activities on young people.
“It is alarming that people with ill intentions are able to defraud unsuspecting victims, who are just looking for a job to improve their life.
“We have realised that the only way to combat this rising menace is through the power of education,” Fall said.
According to him, sthat is why the training programme by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment was such a powerful platform
Meanwhile, the Senior Labour Officer at the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Miss Augustina Uka, said that the ministry was committed at enhancing the employability of young Nigerians.
Uka said the ministry had created the National Electronic Labour Exchange (NELEX) project, an innovative electronic platform, to facilitate job exchange and labour mobility.
She said that NELEX project was designed to transform the ministry’s employment exchanges into a robust database of employable manpower in Nigeria.
Uka said the ministry’s aim was to provide the necessary tools and resources for the Nigerian youth to succeed in the competitive job market.
She said that through the collaboration with QNET, the need to help people live better lives by educating and empowering youths with the knowledge on how to identify and avoid fake job offers had become a priorityt.
“The Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment wishes to work closely with QNET to help deliver on the mandate of the ministry.
“The mandate is to create an enabling environment for job creation, leading to increased employment opportunities and economic growth in Nigeria,” Uka said. (NAN)
