THE Queen’s College Old Girls Association, Abuja (northern church), says it will host its second “Blue Fair”, a platform that provides an opportunity for women and men in various industries and professional background to network.
Hajia Mairo Usman, the president of the association, announced this in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja.
She said that the event which would be done in collaboration with the King’s College Old Boys Association, would present chief executive officers, career men and women and aspiring change makers, among others.
According to her, the fair will provide opportunities for members and non-members to connect with peers, get mentored, build network, share success stories and more.
Usman noted that the association at the national and worldwide level had organised several activities, mostly in Lagos, to mark the school’s 95th Founder’s Day, which took place on Oct. 10.
She added that one of the activities was the inauguration of the Queen’s College N10 billion Endowment Fund for the benefit of the current staff and students of the school.
“The plan is to build up this fund over the coming years to provide a solid base for sustainable development with sound investment and maintenance of infrastructure and human resources.
“We are working with our school’s main stakeholder, the Federal Government of Nigeria, through the Federal Ministry of Education, to achieve this.
“As part of the 95th year Founder’s Day celebration, Walkathons were organised all over the world on Oct. 8 by the Queen’s College Old Girls.
“Our Walkathon in Abuja, with starting point being Patrick Yakowa Street in Katampe, Abuja, was both fun and exhilarating and at the same time purposeful.
“This is because the shirts we wore were also a fundraiser. What made the Abuja Walkathon different was because our dear brothers, King’s College Old Boys Association, were there to walk with us.
“And so, given the difficulties of the last two years, during which we lost some members and relatives and have been socially distanced from our sisters.
“We have again decided to organise the Blue Fair to provide support to each other materially, emotionally and mentally.
“The Fair is scheduled to take place on Oct. 23, at the Maha Event Centre, Area 8 Recreation Park, Garki, Abuja.
“Admission is free to members and non-members alike,” she said.
Usman added that other activities of the day would include sales of goods and services by different organisations, raffle draw, games, children and adult activities, among others.(NAN)
