Rangers International pip Dakkada FC for their first win

HOSTS Rangers International Football Club of Enugu on Wednesday in Awka defeated Dakkada FC 1-0 to earn their first win in the ongoing abridged 2022/2023 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL).
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Flying Antelopes scored the only goal of the match played through Hadi Mohammed in the 32nd minute.
The win has now brought Rangers’ total points tally to five from five games games, having secured earlier two draws and two losses.
Speaking after the match, Rangers’ Chief Coach, Abdul Maikaba, said while the result was a good one for the team it was also clear that things could only get better.
Maikaba said their quest for a top-three finish in the league had now got a boost.
“No match is easy, but the important thing is that we got the three points. The team is improving and we are going to consolidate with away games.
“It is a morale booster for us,” he said.
Speaking about his contractual situation with the club, the coach said he still has a contract with the club which is still running.
”More important is the fact that my employers have said I should continue with my job,” he said.
Speaking also, Danlami Umar, the coach of Dakkada FC, said his team played well but lost the chances to score.
Umar said the team was youthful and a work in progress.(NAN)
