RANGERS International Football Club of Enugu on Wednesday won the state’s 2022/2023 Federation Cup trophy after defeating Ingas FC 5-1 in the final match.

In the match played at the Rangers FC training pitch, Chidera Eze put Rangers ahead in the eighth minute, with Innocent Gabriel making it 2-0 in the 15th minute.

Ingas FC reduced the tally in the 22nd minute through Chiedozie Okorie from a well-taken free-kick which beat the goalkeeper and sailed into the bottom corner of the net.

Rangers FC made it 3-1 through Chidiebere Nwobodo in the 56th minute, while Godwin Obaje’s double in the 79th and 83rd minutes sealed the win.

Speaking after the match, Chairman of Enugu State Football Association (ENSFA), Tony Ugwu, hailed the two teams for doing well in the competition.

Ugwu said: “The fact that Ingas FC were beaten 5-1 does not mean they did not do well, because a team can be let down by some tactical errors.”

He assured that the competition would keep on improving both in organisation and the teams’ tatical approach to games.

The FA chairman thanked football enthusiasts and stakeholders who made the final match a success.(NAN)
