RCCG organises free medical checks for Lagos community

THE Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), His Majesty Chapel Parish in Ahmadiyya, Lagos, has embarked on free medical checkups to improve the health of residents of the community.
The Pastor in charge of the parish, Samson Ajayi, disclosed this during a medical outreach for community members in Abule Egba area of Lagos State on Saturday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that among tests carried out at the outreach included free Blood Pressure check; Blood Sugar, medical and spiritual counseling, among others.
“We intend to sustain this medical outreach and trust God to put resources in our hands and even take them outside the church premises.
“The number of people that came for the programme is beyond the number I was thinking about; we never envisaged that we will have that number of people.
“This will also be an avenue to feed the people in our community; what we are doing as RCCG is just to fulfill the mandate of God as it was laid down by the General Overseer, Pastor Adeboye, “ he said.
The pastor said that the challenges surrounding the general health of the populace prompted the Church to organise the free medical check-up for the community.
According to him, many Nigerians are suffering from ailments that they are ignorant of, including hypertension, diabetes, among others.
“We realise that many people, while working or walking, collapse and die, while some go to bed and do not wake up.
“The leadership of this mission, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, feels that it is imperative to contribute to our immediate community and that is what prompted the medical outreach.
“Both Christians and Muslims came around to participate in the medical check-up and the Bible says we should love one another.
“In this programme, there is nothing like sentiment; we attend to everyone that comes around to check their medical status.
“As a Church, we believe that corporate social responsibilities are important and we should organise for the people to know their health status, “ Ajayi said.(NAN)
